This contract role is for a Director of Pharmacy who will also serve as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) at a healthcare facility in Clewiston, FL. Leading the pharmacy team through a critical transition period, this position requires strong management skills, regulatory expertise, and a hands-on approach to daily operations.

Location: Clewiston, FL
Contract Duration: Starting August 31 until a permanent candidate is hired
Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:00 AM to 4:30/5:00 PM
  • No weekend coverage required
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead pharmacy operations with direct oversight of staff including 3 pharmacy technicians, 1 full-time pharmacist, and 4 PRN pharmacists
  • Provide pharmacy leadership and support compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) requirements during their survey window
  • Prepare and manage TJC inspections and annual Board of Pharmacy (BOP) regulatory requirements
  • Oversee inpatient services including ICU, outpatient infusion, surgery, and medical-surgical specialty areas
  • Monitor sterile compounding activities, primarily performed by pharmacy technicians
  • Manage order entry system (CPSI) and medication automation (Omnicell), with opportunities for training provided
  • Work collaboratively using Collaborative Practice Agreements (CPA) and maintain operational excellence despite limited staffing
  • Qualifications:

  • Florida Pharmacist and Consultant licenses are mandatory
  • Minimum of 3 years management experience in an inpatient setting
  • Proven knowledge of intravenous (IV) medications and Joint Commission standards
  • Experience with CPSI and Omnicell is preferred, but training will be offered
  • Additional Information:
