Interim Director of Pharmacy - Battle Creek, MI
We're seeking an experienced Interim Director of Pharmacy (PIC) to lead pharmacy operations at a community hospital in Michigan. This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacist with strong inpatient leadership experience who enjoys driving operational excellence, mentoring teams, and stabilizing pharmacy services during a leadership transition.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week
Weekend coverage may be required based on departmental needs
On-call responsibilities may be required as needed
Immediate start available for qualified candidates
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the Pharmacy Director and Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC)
Provide leadership, mentorship, and accountability to pharmacy staff
Oversee daily inpatient pharmacy operations
Supervise pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
Participate in departmental meetings and operational planning
Manage financial and administrative responsibilities
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
Oversee USP <797> and USP <800> sterile and hazardous compounding programs
Support recruitment efforts and help strengthen departmental culture
Provide staffing support as needed
Qualifications
Active Michigan Pharmacist License (required)
Recent inpatient hospital pharmacy experience
Previous pharmacy leadership or Director of Pharmacy experience strongly preferred
Experience serving as a Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) preferred
Working knowledge of USP <797> and USP <800> standards
Cerner experience preferred (training available)
Pyxis experience preferred (training available)
Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
Department Overview
Collaborative pharmacy team consisting of approximately 6 pharmacists and 8 pharmacy technicians
Technicians support sterile compounding, hazardous compounding, Pyxis management, and discrepancy resolution
Retail pharmacy oversight is included, with a dedicated retail staff already in place
