A healthcare organization in the Cary, NC area is seeking a highly skilled IV/Infusion Pharmacist for a 17-week contract with potential to transition to full-time. This role focuses on the preparation and supervision of sterile compounded medications, ensuring compliance with USP 797 and USP 800 standards, and providing expert pharmaceutical care to infusion patients.

Job Type: Contract to Hire – 17 weeks
Start Date: April 6
Schedule:

  • Flexible Monday through Friday shifts: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM, or 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
  • Weekend on-call rotation required
  • Responsibilities:

  • Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications, monitoring patient compliance and over-usage
  • Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation with precision
  • Provide thorough medication counseling, including dosage, side effects, and interactions
  • Compound sterile medications and prepare infusion solutions following strict safety protocols
  • Supervise and ensure competency of pharmacy staff in sterile compounding processes, including cleaning, garbing, training, and testing
  • Maintain pharmaceutical inventory and ensure all processes adhere to regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to identify and resolve drug-related issues for patients
  • Oversee sterile compounding area cleanliness and safety in compliance with USP guidelines
  • Qualifications / Desired Experience:

  • Active North Carolina pharmacist license is required
  • IV/Infusion pharmacy experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with sterile compounding and USP 797/800 standards
  • Strong leadership abilities to supervise pharmacy staff
