A specialty pharmacy focused on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is seeking an experienced Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC) to take a leadership role during its critical licensure and launch phases. This contract-to-hire position offers an exceptional opportunity to build a mail-order pharmacy from the ground up at a newly secured 7,500 sq ft industrial flex space in Lancaster, PA.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the named PIC on the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy application, initiating and managing the licensure process through inspection and approval
  • Collaborate during facility build-out to ensure compliance with Board of Pharmacy requirements
  • Author all pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and procedures prior to launch
  • Oversee all pharmacy operations after launch, including dispensing, mail order fulfillment, and quality assurance
  • Manage DEA registration and controlled substance compliance programs
  • Maintain audit readiness and act as primary contact during regulatory reviews
  • Hire, train, and manage pharmacy support staff as the team grows
  • Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
  • Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania pharmacist license in good standing (no disciplinary history)
  • Minimum 3 years of pharmacist experience; prior PIC experience strongly preferred
  • Proven track record with new pharmacy launches, including regulatory applications and inspection readiness
  • Strong DEA compliance knowledge, especially regarding controlled substances
  • Experience in specialty pharmacy, preferably in HRT, compounding, or related therapeutic areas
  • Comfort working in pre-operational environments including SOP creation and vendor coordination
  • Willingness to obtain multi-state licensure via NABP reciprocity or endorsement as the pharmacy expands nationwide
  • Additional Details:

  • Start Time: Mid-June (immediate availability preferred)
  • Location: Lancaster, PA
  • This is a unique chance to lead a pharmacy through licensure, build-out, and operational launch, working closely with executive leadership and shaping the future of HRT specialty pharmacy services. The role will eventually transition to a full-time permanent position with competitive compensation and growth opportunities.
