An experienced inpatient pharmacist is needed for a night-shift role at an Indian Health Service (IHS) hospital in Rosebud, SD, approximately 3-5 hours from Saint Francis, SD. This contract position offers an opportunity to provide critical pharmaceutical care in a culturally respectful IHS environment.

Location: Rosebud, SD
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedule: 12-hour shifts with a 30-minute break
Setting: Indian Health Service Hospital

Responsibilities:

Review medication orders, labs, vital signs, allergies, and patient charts

Process and verify medication and prescription orders accurately

Prepare IV admixtures and support inpatient medication distribution

Counsel and educate patients on their medications

Collaborate with providers, nurses, and pharmacy staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Respond to drug-therapy questions and clarify orders when necessary

Recognize adverse drug reactions and manage emergencies appropriately

Process refill requests and outside prescriptions as required

Conduct controlled-substance audits in accordance with policies

Complete all required IHS training and documentation promptly

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

Active South Dakota Pharmacist license

Proven inpatient hospital pharmacy experience required

Familiarity with IHS or Tribal Health settings is preferred

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Experience in IV admixture preparation

Comfortable navigating electronic health records and pharmacy management systems

Valid U.S. driver’s license

Immunization certification if administering vaccines
