An inpatient pharmacist opportunity is available in Pittsburgh, PA, offering a focused role in clinical medication management within a hospital setting. This contract assignment spans at least 8 weeks with an immediate start.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify medication orders for accuracy and clinical appropriateness.
  • Conduct prospective medication reviews considering dosing, interactions, allergies, contraindications, and duplicate therapies.
  • Dispense medications, ensuring timely preparation and availability aligned with scheduled administration.
  • Support unit-dose medication distribution and maintain medication supplies for inpatient units.
  • Manage medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, storage, expiration monitoring, and controlled substance oversight.
  • Oversee Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs), ensuring consistent medication availability on patient units.
  • Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams regarding medication therapy plans.
  • Provide medication-related information and recommendations to clinical staff.
  • Monitor patients' medication regimens to identify potential medication-related issues.
  • Assist with medication reconciliation, accurate documentation, and maintenance of pharmacy records.
  • Qualifications:

  • Active Pennsylvania pharmacist license in good standing is required.
  • Previous experience in hospital or inpatient pharmacy settings is preferred.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of pharmacotherapy and patient-centered care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
  • Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
  • This contract role offers the chance to contribute to patient care in an acute hospital environment, ensuring safe and effective medication use.
