This role is for a clinical pharmacist position at a leading 359-bed pediatric medical center known for its trauma services and teaching programs. The hospital is recognized as one of the top pediatric medical providers nationally and is the sole pediatric medical center in Arkansas. The environment is fast-paced, team-oriented, and traveler friendly with state-of-the-art facilities.

Location: Jacksonville, Arkansas
Job Type: Contract (13 weeks, temp-to-hire possible)
Schedule: 7 on / 7 off night shifts, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, Thursday–Wednesday) with flexible scheduling options

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compound and dispense prescribed medications according to physician instructions
  • Consult with medical staff on drug interactions, patient history, and medication use
  • Provide patient education regarding medications and proper dosages
  • Ensure accurate recording and compliance with pharmacy and hospital regulations
  • Verify medication appropriateness based on patient age, weight, diagnosis, and other clinical factors
  • Identify and intervene in drug therapy problems such as allergies and adverse reactions
  • Evaluate non-formulary drug needs and suggest cost-effective alternatives
  • Monitor patients for therapeutic outcomes and collaborate with healthcare providers
  • Participate in training and education for patients, pharmacy staff, and students
  • Manage drug information requests and assist with drug utilization reviews
  • Coordinate medication orders, substitutions, and inventory activities
  • Desired Qualifications:

  • Arkansas pharmacist license preferred; temporary licenses allowed, and candidates in licensing process considered
  • Minimum 2 years inpatient experience preferred
  • IV experience or IV certification strongly preferred
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) certification is a plus
  • This assignment offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a specialized pediatric care environment while working a stable night-shift schedule. The Director of Pharmacy is open to discuss candidate needs, and there is potential for increased pay rates.
