We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis. In this role, you will work alongside the Pharmacist to assist with the dispensing of medications and handle both technical and clerical aspects of pharmacy services. Location: Central AZ
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 13 weeks (Contract-to-Hire)
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM | Saturday, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process prescriptions/medication orders for emergency or clinic supplies, ensuring accuracy and billing the appropriate parties.
  • Enter prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system promptly and accurately, billing multiple payors and printing required reports and labels.
  • Assist the pharmacist with identifying and resolving prescription processing issues, implementing solutions, and following up.
  • Provide professional customer service by answering calls and assisting patients or directing calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Manage medication order runs and deliver medications to clinic areas as needed.
  • Maintain and update pharmacy computer databases, performing routine maintenance and backups.
  • Balance the cash register, prepare daily deposits, and ensure proper documentation is filed.
  • Organize and prioritize work tasks to ensure efficient pharmacy operations.
  • Keep pharmacy areas clean, organized, and maintain pharmacy equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in pharmacy automation/robotic system calibration, maintenance, and use.

    Medication and Supply Management:

  • Assist with ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies.
  • Ensure stock is rotated to avoid expired medications, replacing outdated or unusable medications.
  • Safely repackage bulk medications into unit-of-use packages per established procedures.

    Quality Improvement and Compliance:

  • Participate in quality improvement activities and ensure compliance with medication storage and inspection protocols.
  • Collect data and complete assigned quality monitoring tasks and documentation.

    Software System: Liberty

    Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience working in an FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) or 340B pharmacy is highly preferred.
  • If no FQHC experience, candidates with experience in pharmacies utilizing the 340B program are also encouraged to apply.

    Qualifications:

  • Must have an active Arizona Pharmacy Technician license.
  • Must have PTCB certification.
