A closed-door mail order pharmacy is seeking a dedicated Maryland-licensed Pharmacist to serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) in a part-time role. This position offers an opportunity to join a well-established team of six pharmacy technicians and several pharmacists in a supportive, collaborative environment focused on delivering quality medication management to long-term care patients.

Location: Gaithersburg, MD
Schedule: Part-Time, 16 hours/week (7 AM – 3 PM, 2 days per week)
Position Type: Contract to Hire (minimum 13 weeks ongoing)

Key Responsibilities:

Lead daily pharmacy operations ensuring full compliance with state and federal regulations within a long-term care pharmacy setting.

Supervise and coordinate activities of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to maintain high standards of workflow accuracy and efficiency.

Review and verify prescriptions and medication orders to guarantee safe, appropriate therapy tailored to LTC patient needs.

Maintain and enforce quality assurance programs, controlled substance policies, documentation, and regulatory compliance.

Collaborate closely with nursing and provider teams to support effective medication management and timely prescription delivery.

Provide assistance with sterile compounding and clean room operations as needed, if qualified and comfortable.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

Active Maryland Pharmacist License required. Additional licenses in AL, AR, CA, LA, NE, OK, OR, or TX preferred but not mandatory to start.

Minimum of 2 years recent experience in long-term care or mail order pharmacy practice.

At least 2 years of pharmacy management experience preferred.

Experience with sterile compounding is a strong plus, though not required.
