Mail Order LTC Staff Pharmacist - Cranston, Rhode Island
This opportunity is ideal for a licensed pharmacist experienced in long-term care and mail order pharmacy environments, seeking an evening shift role Monday through Friday. The assignment consists of a 12-week contract with potential to transition into a permanent position.
Scheduled from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, your expertise will be vital in safely dispensing prescription medications and monitoring patient compliance and usage patterns. You will manage medication supplies in compliance with legal standards and ensure prescriptions meet patient needs. Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records will be an essential responsibility.
Key responsibilities include advising patients on medication administration, side effects, and interactions, as well as providing consultations on prescription and non-prescription therapies. You will also offer valuable health services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management. Educating patients on use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters will be part of daily duties.
Compounding medications and preparing sterile solutions according to protocols will be expected. Leadership capabilities are important, as supervision of pharmacy technicians and clerks will be necessary. Inventory control for pharmaceutical and medical supplies is critical to ensure uninterrupted patient care. Collaborating with healthcare practitioners to identify and resolve drug-related issues rounds out the role.
