Job Purpose / Summary:
The Director of Pharmacy oversees the full operation of a mail-order pharmacy, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and compliant services. This role involves strategic planning, staff management, process improvement, and cross-departmental collaboration to ensure seamless patient care and satisfaction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the mail-order pharmacy, including medication dispensing, inventory management, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support personnel.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork.
  • Monitor workflow to enhance efficiency and customer service.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory by ordering medications and supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimizing waste.
  • Implement strategies to optimize inventory turnover and reduce costs while maintaining adequate stock to meet patient needs.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure safe, effective medication use and optimize patient outcomes.
  • Counsel patients on medication use, including dosage, side effects, and potential drug interactions.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents or errors to ensure patient safety.
  • Communicate potential risks to leadership in a timely manner.
  • Maintain relationships with client partners and meet operational excellence standards.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications & Education Requirements:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active Indiana pharmacist license in good standing.
  • 8-10 years of experience in a pharmacy setting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in mail-order pharmacy operations (highly preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy management software and technology.
  • Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure in additional states as required.

    Travel Required:
    Up to 5% travel.


    Working Conditions / Physical Demands:

  • Regular use of a computer, calculator, and phone.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lifting items up to 25 lbs.
  • Handling after-hours issues via laptop on occasion.
